In Groß-Gerau, near Frankfurt Airport, we have been operating a platform for the transshipment of fresh fish and meat. The site serves as a hub for supplying all METRO stores in Germany and other countries with fresh fish.

Ultra-fresh logistics

Handling fresh fish is arguably one of the biggest challenges in food logistics. As is the case throughout the supply chain, the 10,000 sqm platform is temperature-controlled to a maximum of 2 degrees Celsius to create optimal conditions for incoming and outgoing products.

Quality inspection according to defined quality standards

Refrigeration, quality and time are the most important assets of Ultrafrische logistics. Accordingly, all incoming fish and meat items are not stored, but are inspected, picked and re-delivered on the day of delivery according to defined quality standards.
